The next two years will be extremely important, not only for our organization, but also for our congregations. Unless we are able to make substantial enhancements to the vitality of our ministry, our ability to effect positive change in lives and in systems will continue to decline.
Towards this end, there are several things I need you to do.
1. Renew your membership, as well as encourage your pastor and friends to become members. Our ability to influence decision makers depends heavily on the number of members we have. More members, more power.
2. Support BMCR programs with prayer and presence. We need to be more visible in the conference and in the community. Such visibility will help us become a force to be reckoned with.
My hope for Chicago BMCR is that we continue to claim our heritage as an organization that seeks to make our denomination respect African Americans. I also pray that we claim our future as an organization that helps our people to better know and serve Jesus.
Sincerely,
P. Devon Brown
