Reflecting On The Past - Looking Towards The Future

P. Devon Brown, President

The mission statement of Chicago Black Methodists for Church Renewal says in part: "The purpose of Chicago BMCR is to empower Black Methodists for effective witness and service within the church, community and world."   This statement is significant because it reminds us that ministry does not occur solely in and for the church.  It is instead meant to impact the entire community.
Our power to effect change begins with Faith in Jesus.  It expands, however, as the Holy Spirit empowers believers to confront, and then conform systems of injustice into images more reflective of God's righteousness. Towards that end, our members commit to being witnesses, advocates and activists on behalf of our God and of our people.
Join as we seek to make our congregations and our denomination tools of change in the church, community and world."  Your prayers, your presence and your presents (membership) will insure that Black United Methodism will not only survive, but
also thrive.
